In preparation for the international exhibition and conference MRO Russia & CIS 2021, the organizers, together with the / media group, are launched the MRO newsletter.

We will inform you about the news of the air transport and MRO market, as well as the general development of air transport in the region. A special section of the newsletter is interviews with the main market participants, exhibitors of the MRO Russia & CIS 2021 exhibition, as well as the products and services they offer. We call on all exhibitors and conference participants to take an active part in the preparation of the MRO bulletin.
Airline market
Russia’s airline passenger traffic down 37 per cent in February, on the climb
S7 Airlines is still leading the market, LCC Pobeda Airlines enjoys three per cent growth. Russian airlines served collectively 5.1 million passengers in February 2021, which is 37 per cent below the same month of the pre-crisis year, according to the preliminary data published by the country’s aviation authority Rosaviatsiya. /
January proves better than December for Russia’s airlines
Total traffic was 38 per cent down Y-on-Y, private S7 Airlines still leads the market. According to the preliminary report by Russian civil aviation authority Rosaviatsiya, in January 2021 the country’s airlines carried collectively 5.5 million passengers, down 38 per cent on the same period of last year, before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Russian market.
Thus, January trend proved somewhat better than the last December 43 per cent drop.

UTG performed the first heavy maintenance on a Boeing 767-300 at Domodedovo
The UTG Domodedovo Aircraft Maintenance Center (a subdivision of the Russian ground handling operator UTG Aviation Services) has completed the first heavy C-check maintenance of the wide-body Boeing 767-300 of the Russian Royal Flight airline.
The technical specialists of the center at the Moscow Domodedovo airport performed routine maintenance and structural repairs of the aircraft. /
MAAS Aviation opens new aircraft paint shop in Kaunas
In cooperation with FL Technics, a transfer center is set up at the Lithuanian airport. Following a multi-million Euro investment, MAAS Aviation has opened a new purpose-built paint shop at Kaunas Airport (KUN), the first of its kind in Lithuania.
The modern facility is a twin-bay narrow body paint shop capable of accommodating up to two A321 sized aircraft simultaneously. The facility grows MAAS Aviation’s global footprint to eleven paint shops and increases their overall MRO capacity in Europe by 40%. /
Czech Airlines Technics to Provide Base Maintenance Services to Air Corsica Aircraft
Czech Airlines Technics (CSAT) has signed a new Base Maintenance Agreement with Air Corsica. Based on a successful tender, two Airbus A320 aircraft will undergo overhauls in the hangar located at Vaclav Havel Airport Prague during the first quarter of 2021.
Last year, CSAT experienced teams completed over 70 base maintenance checks within its main division.
MTU Maintenance weathers 2020 well
MTU Maintenance, global market leader in customized solutions for aero engines, comes out of 2020 with only “a black eye”.
Thanks to a multi-pronged aftermarket strategy of OEM network participation, joint ventures with airlines, such as China Southern, and a broad portfolio across multiple business segments, the company saw a reduction of only -18 percent in incoming engines across its entire portfolio in 2020, which was above market expectations of -45 percent in shop visits for the global aftermarket for commercial engines.

Wizz Air becomes the first customer of the Technical Logbook solution of AVIATAR. Through the newly introduced solution, Wizz Air will replace the manual and paper-based process of capturing technical issues during flight/on ground and implement the seemless digital pilot-to-maintenance collaboration application.
S7 Technics specialists performed the first A-Check of the Red Wings SSJ100 aircraft
Specialists of the leading Russian MRO provider performed the first form of a-Check maintenance for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft of Red Wings airline at its base at Domodedovo airport.
Previously, Red Wings and S7 Technics have already cooperated in the framework of performing basic maintenance of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
