The airport network infrastructure in Russia and CIS is undergoing an extensive modernization program. As is evident from their long-term business strategies, Russian airports are resolved to providing the highest levels of service to national and international air carriers.
Ground Handling Russia & CIS is the new initiative from Russia’s ATO Events which aims to open dialogue about the increasing need to rapidly modernise the GSE fleets within the airports of Russia and the CIS. Ground Handling in Russia and CIS - 2010
1st international Ground Handling in Russia and CIS conference was held on September 7-8 2010 in Moscow and brought together more than 150 participants including airport management, airline professionals, GSE designers, manufacturers and suppliers, business solutions and service providers, airport management companies, IT providers from Russia and more than 16 other countries.
The conference gave vast opportunities to the participants to discuss all the major key issues related to ground operations: whether the airports are meeting international technical standards today and what is needed to raise the quality and speed of ground handling operations to satisfy the requirements of the carriers – not only Russian but also international ones, how to deal with GSE fleet aging and what are the ways of its renewal financing, which GSE supplier to choose and whether all the imported products suit Russian reality.
Speakers revealed at the conference some factors that may be considered as obstacles on the way of airport ground handling infrastructure enhancement, proposed the schemes to solve the problems, including leasing options and ground handling outsourcing features, discussed the ways of cost reduction for ground operation services and ways of airport infrastructure development considering the international standards of aircraft handling.
New solutions for services billing and passenger handling were presented to the audience as well as cutting edge technologies of ramp services and ground handling process planning.
The conference succeeded not only in bringing together GSE manufacturers and suppliers with key airport management representatives directly but also in establishing open dialog between the specialists of the industry form Russia and abroad who pointed out main objectives of ground handling services development and shared their advanced experience.
